Close the Care Gap was the theme set aside for World Cancer Day celebrated on the 4th of February 2022.
The Fiji Cancer Society in partnership with Wow Kids, Consumer Counsel of Fiji, Reproductive & Health Association Fiji , Medical professionals, Rainbow Proud Foundation, Fiji Laboratory Specialists, Hope Clinic, and a few more celebrated the day at Naimasimasi, Tailevu providing awareness and screening to the community.
World Cancer Day is celebrated so that the public is aware of the raising illness and death caused by cancer. This day provides an opportunity to rally the local and international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer.
As expressed by the stakeholders, together we can prevent cancer if we prevent the use of tobacco, eat healthily, maintain a healthy weight and physically active, protect the skin from the sun, avoid risky behaviors, and get regular medical care. These are a few preventative measures that will help one live a productive and healthy life.
